Call for Participation » Student Volunteers» Volunteer Information
Each year student volunteers provide essential support to the IEEE VisWeek 2008 Conference. The conference depends on student volunteers to staff the various conference events and special purpose conference rooms. Their enthusiastic participation enhances the conference experience for all the attendees.
Student Volunteers benefit by observing first-hand the latest advances in visualization, hearing and meeting world-class as well as next-generation visualization professionals from around the world, and building a network of research colleagues.
The Student Volunteer Program is looking for reliable, hard working and enthusiastic student volunteers to help us create a great experience and a premier conference. For those who would like to participate in the conference as a student volunteer, an application form is here.» Qualifications
Applicants must be enrolled as full- or part-time undergraduate or graduate students during the 2007-08 academic year. Selected applications will be requested to provide proof of enrollment.» Selection Guidelines
Every year the conference receives a lot of worthy student volunteer applications, but the number of positions available is limited. The following considerations will influence selections:
- Selection for presentation at IEEE Visualization Conference, IEEE InfoVis Conference or IEEE VAST Symposium.
- Success as student volunteer at previous IEEE Visualization conference.
- The number of volunteers from each institution/research group may be limited to ensure broad participation.
The application period for Student Volunteers is now open. Applications can be submitted until July 4th and notifications acceptance will follow the week after. Click here to submit your application now.» Notification of Acceptance
Applications will be reviewed after the submission deadline has passed. Applicants will be notified within a short time concerning their admission into the Student Volunteer Program. In addition, some students will be put on a wait list in case positions become available.» Application Expenses
In exchange for approximately 22 hours of work, student volunteers will receive many benefits:
- Free conferences/symposium registration.
- Tickets to receptions.
- Part of your accommodation costs at a hotel selected by the conference committee.
- A volunteer thank-you party.
Note: A small fee may be charged at the moment of registration for the conference. Upon satisfactory completion of student volunteer duties, this fee will be credited towards the hotel cost if the student stays at the student volunteers' hotel, otherwise the fee will be reimbursed to the student at the end of the conference.
More details will be given soon.» Contact
