Tutorials at IEEE Visualization cover a wide selection of topics of interest to both conference and symposia participants. The tutorials offer participants an opportunity to learn new or evolving subject areas that impact the quality of our research and applications. Tutorials may also introduce new tools and application domains. Tutorial attendees come from diverse backgrounds, including volume visualization and rendering, information visualization, high performance computing, and scientific application communities. The tutorials are also an opportunity to share across these communities. Tutorials will begin on Sunday and continue through Thursday.

We are soliciting half-day and full-day tutorial proposals in the areas of visualization systems, mathematical foundations, methods, and application areas. We welcome proposals that introduce emerging technologies to the visualization community, as well as proposals on more traditional visualization topics.

Topics include, but are not limited to:

• Human Interfaces, Usability, and Perception in Visualization
• Application of Visualization (in particular interdisciplinary work with domain experts)
• Visualization in bioinformatics, medicine, science, engineering
• Cognition, Insight, and Sense-Making
• Evaluation Design, Visualization Metrics (Measuring Insight, Evaluation, or Value-Added)
• Visualization Design and Aesthetic Relevance
• Interactive Visualization Prototyping Techniques and Tools
• Higher Dimensional Visualization
• Mathematics and Statistics
• Graphics Programming Tools (i.e., GPUs, Toolkits, Systems)

Tutorial Detail

Proposals will be evaluated on the basis of the tutorial's importance and suitability for presentation in a tutorial format, the past experience and qualifications of the instructors, the overall balance in the tutorial program, and the likely attendance of the tutorial. All tutorial proposals should include:

• The duration (1/2 day or 1 day)
• The level of the tutorial (beginning, intermediate, or advanced)
• An abstract of the tutorial topic
• A description of the tutorial's organization including time allocation and outline for major tutorials topics (500 word minimum)
• Has the tutorial been held before? (Where and when)
• The background and contact information for each instructors
