The Visualization 2004 Contest is a new event this year created to foster comparison of novel and established techniques, provide benchmarks for the community, and to create an exciting venue for discussion at the conference. The contest is open to everyone (excluding the contest organizers and judges)---individuals or teams from academia, industry, or elsewhere. Students and student teams are highly encouraged to participate. Existing tools and research prototypes can be used, and different tools can be combined where desired. The entries will be judged upon the completeness of the solution (with regards to the given tasks) and the effectiveness of the solution. Partial answers focusing on a particular data set, aspect of a task, etc. are acceptable; please show how the tool could be applicable to the other aspects of the contest when discussing its strengths and weaknesses in your submission. The theme for the first IEEE Visualization Contest is "Visualization Fusion." The data set for the contest exhibits many different types of behavior that can be tackled by various means; the goal is to combine multiple visualization techniques to effectively communicate this behavior. The URL for contest information is: http://www.cse.msstate.edu/~graphics/vis04contest/ For more information, please contact vis04-contest@cse.msstate.edu. Deadline: September 6, 2004 (New Deadline) |
